    Spare ECU

OKie, it's nearly a week since I asked a really newbie question, but with your continued help, I have already ordered the 996 monoblocks upgrade and the whiteline ARB upgrade, so I think I am going in the right direction. So, for this weeks stupid question.....

I am considering buying a spare ECU, so that I can have it homefried and keep the original for standard running.

My question is, are the ECU's the same for the AAN, ABY, 3B etc? I have found one advertised as being for AAN/S2/S4/S6/RS4/RS6/ABY/ADU/RS2/3B which has a large MOTRONIC sticker and seems to have the following on the info sticker (? for illegible chars): -

    BOSCH
    0 261 2?? 465
    Made in Germany
    4A? 307 531AA

    Cheers and thanks in advance

Errr why do you need an ecu for standard running?

The homefried ecu passes all Audi checksum tests when they pop it on vagcom so you can't tell it's been chipped if thats what your concerns are also the car is more fuel effecient, well if you dont develop heavy right footitus

My wallet left the country 3 months ago, left me with a parting comment "go and get """"ed"

GP told me last week I have "quattroitus" no treatment available though, Pfft! what does he know ! ! wheres the car keys

          At Si,
The ecu you have seen advertised can't be for all those models, not possible seller obviously knows very little. The 3B ecu is different to the ABY one, never mind an RS6

Thanks Jas, that's what I had assumed - too many different engines turbos etc in that collection...shame, only £99 Found one from a ABY S2, but he wants £350

As for your medical condition...sorry mate, I didn't ealise you were so ill. Normally under these circumstances I would wish you a speedy recovery, but who the hell wants to recover from "quattroitus"

            Cheers

                  Thanks Kwlw,

From your links, I have worked out that it is an M2.3.2 ECU from an S4 (AAN), so no good for me

                  Cheers
