Well I recently acquired my S2 coupe and thought I'd take it down to get a base dyno test before I start tweaking anything, it has a cats back 3" Bosal exhaust which sounds nice and beefy, but no other mods...so I thought !
Well after the run I looked at the charts and things seemed a little odd, so I went down to my trusty mechanic and pulled the ecu...lo and behold !...there was a Powerchip and I should have guessed because I'd also spotted a great fat bolt hanging out of my wastegate. We took that apart and found a longer, heavier spring crammed in there..now I haven't checked the WGFV, but I have a feeling that it too might be bypassed as I've heard about before...I have no reference to compare as my S2 is one of only about 3 in the state I live in, but I believe the lack of mid range torque (which tapers dramatically as the revs rise to around 6k), was not a "factory calibration" ! I mean the car car blast past R type hondas alright, but I'm sure the boost curve is out of wack, please check the 3 attached images from my run, showing AFR, Nm and Bar, also for your perusal, the Powerchip piece de resistance (literally) compared to the factory wastegate. Your feedbacks on these curves are much welcome.....This week, I will be testing for boost leaks and checking the WGFV + BOV to ensure everything else is in order, I was only getting 0.8 bar max.... Paul Nugent if you're out there, please reply to my PM's...I really NEED a Homefry ASAP !!! (just tried to attach the images and can only post 1 image per post, so I'll follow with 3 more image posts....)
