need some advice on my fault code...

Good evening gentlemen....Had a diagnostic on my car today, '94 RS2, came back with one fault; Intake manifold pressure sender- G71 signal too great/ sporadic fault. Would this cause any loss in performance and is it easy to rectify?

You would'nt belive what can affect performance on these cars m8! if you breath wrong it can affect them! Check out Pauls web site www.s2central.net its full of stuff on S2's. Check out the page on ABY fault codes cos theres the codes that the car blinks out with possible causes and recification ideas. The ADU engine thats in yours is similar to the ABY. From my experience dont always take what the ECU says as definate. It can sometimes lead you the wrong way if your not carefull! In your case it says G71. but is it G71 faulty or the manifold may be down on pressure due to somthing else???? Get what i mean!

any ideas on what else? seems to be down on power at around 4-5000rpm.i niavely thought that the diagnostic would show up faulty air mass meter but apparently this is not the case...

The manifold pressure sensor is in the ECU but it could be a leaking pipe from the maniofold or a split pipe to the ECU? Or maybe the water trap full?

Try cleaning the MAF plug it worked for me when i had probs on my 94 ABY.

What ever you try do 1 thing @ once then if you notice a difference then you know roughly at least what you did.

There is also a small rubber tube inside the ECU which may have come off. I have learnt that everything is possible on an S2!! What you think wouls/should never go wrong can, and in my case has!
