    New coilpacks fitted

    Hey guys!

My engine started to suffer from a nasty misfire 2 weeks ago whilst on a road trip to Newquay (typical, its never local is it LOL)

Managed to nurse the car there and back again, as it was running fine apart from a misfire on full boost.... suspected the cause to be coilpacks and it just wasnt able to maintain the spark once boost climbed...

    Anyway....

Spoke to EuroCarParts last week got a quote of £67.50+VAT each from them, so thought i'll wait a lil longer and drive sensibly, but at the weekend i got the hump with it so spoke to them again and spoke to a very helpful bloke down at there Wembley branch who said "blimey there expensive to be being 5 of" put me on hold and came back to say he'll do them for £58+vat each... result!

They are original BERU ones, which is the same as they left the factory with and come complete with the joining part as well (Main dealer price would be around £150+VAT each for the same)

Fitting took me about an hour, by the time i'd removed the cover etc.... just had to cut the wires and solder the new ones together after trimming.

Has to be said, the old wires on the original coil packs were so so brittle, they were all snapping just by slightly bending them... so they were totally screwed!

Fit up the new ones bolted all back together, fired up the car and straight away the idle sounded better and more smooth, went for a drive up the road... let it warm up and it felt better just driving normally, but when flooring it, damn it pulls well!!!

Would say its def running better now than any time ive owned the car, it had new plugs, oil etc last week so these as well as made it very happy, car pulls harder than ever!!! Fuel economy also seems to have picked up a bit as well....... driving to Guildford and back last night (about 75 miles, i done on £10 of optimax @ 91.9p no problem at all, still had some left!)

Def v happy with ECP tho, no where else has thought thats a lot to spend and straight away offer discount, cos ive never used them before, so its not like they see i spend a lot!

Also asked about suspension and they quoted me prices cheaper than before but said if i get springs as well as shocks then they're sure they can do me a better deal as well!!

Def a big thumbs up from me for ECP in Wembley!

I would have thought Bosch units would be good, certainly a name i would trust.
If you could get ECP to ship to you tho i would have thought the BERU units work out a lot cheaper?

ECP wembley is the only place that keeps stock of stuff and they only have 1 Bilstein shocker in stock.

            Whats the point of that?

When i spoke to them at the weekend they said they didnt have enough in as well, which made me ask the same thing.

I sooooooooo need to get the suspension stuff sorted so it improves the handling cos the top mounts must be shagged as ive never done them in the 2yrs ive had the car, shocks are def knackered from the boating around it does and springs i'll do whilst im doing shocks.

I know what i want, just a case of when i can afford it..... bilstein shocks, springs and those funky expensive top mounts is whats needed. Soon tho!

I've got the springs, got one set of alloy top mounts, need the shockers and another set of alloy mounts (might as well).

Wanted to order them but if they aint got them in stock (didn't offer me a discount ) might as well order through motorsport world.

I might give QPRsport a phone as emails to them seem to get lost in cyber space!
