    How much boost!!!!

Recently changed the fuel pump on my avant, since then the car boosts higher..

When i brought the car it was advertised as 280bhp with S2 central Paul Neugent chips

Paul is trying to find out if this is true at the moment.

now the car hits a maxium of 1.4 but then drops to 1.25/1.3 as the revs rise, does this sound right. I'm more than happy with the performance of the car but thought it would hold 1.4 boost all the way up the rev band..???

Also told by the last owner to use millers 10w60 fully synthetic oil, is this the right one or would mobile one be better?? I can get it cheap from work!!

Thats right, sounds spot on. Mobil one is too thin really. Most synthetic based oils are ok, as long as they arent too thin. so either 10w40 or 10w50 or 10w60

Boost is perfect, it should tail off as the turbo cant really do any more than that

Good glad to here it's running right, seems to pull really well now ive done the fuel pump as a M3 driver found out!! Drove my mates corrado last week it felt gutless and it's a VR6, S2 is awsome!!

Will stick to the 10w60 oil. Just a water leak to sort now the joys of motoring.........

Matt where in Solihull are you?

Also could you post where you got your 4 wheel alignment done? As myself and a couple of others are trying to find a local place that does it.

Yes indeed - the wee K24 turbo can't take 1.4bar all the way thru the revs - oh we wish it would but it won't take the abuse as it quickly turns into a hot air pump with a very short life... At redline expect about 0.8bar on a chipped K24.

I was having wireless ethernet problems yesterday so failed to get a message to you - YES - your car does have my chips - its an Avant I did last April. The car was previously superchipped - hence the ugly WG nut according to my notes.

If you want to squeak some more oomf from the car, go for an RS2 intercooler and airbox. The resultant cooler air produces some more horsies.

if you can get the 5w50 mobil one at work cheap, then buy it,it´s very good ,the only 2 olie´s i have ever used is the 5w50 from mobil and the castrol 10w60 theese days i only use castrol but that´s cause i can get it cheap, and the 5w50 mobil is hard to get, only used castrol 0w40 one´s that was one my olmost brand new S3(only had it 6 month´s/2 olie changes) but that was because that audi hasn´t aproved the 10w60 and i was under warrenty.
ps. has no experience with miller but alot of the brits on here use it,but it´s not nowen

Leave your WG nut alone if the car is reliably making 1.4bar max boost - it means its set just about right for the chips you have...

That WG nut is because the car was molested by Superchips in a past life. The previous owner fitted a stock WG spring on my instruction (IIRC).

I seem to remember somebody telling me the other Saturday morning that they were going to keep it standard as it was quick enough. The RS2 intercooler was my first step towards the dark side (on the car that is, I was already well along the road in other areas )

As for the RS2 parts... Mihnea reckons on an extra 8-14bhp with the RS2 airbox at the topend based on his experience. I have an RS2 intercooler to go onto mine this coming winter (with luck) and I shall be logging air temperatures before and after in order to guage how much extra power is available on account of cooler air intake.

Gut feel is the combination might get 12-16bhp on a chipped S2 like ours.

A sports exhaust (decatted) along with 7A camshafts and some decent head work should get tantalisingly close to 300bhp. Remapping would be needed to provide additional fuelling requirements with the 7A cams... Though I suspect that an adjustable FPR might be a good workaround for that.

Not quite. Matt works for one of my customers. I don't think my boss would let anyone else have an S2 at our place. It would be too expensive for him.

Without wishing to say too much, suffice to say that Superchips is the last place anyone should visit with a view to an ECU 'upgrade' for their S2.

What they do is to mechanically bodge the wastegate into allowing the car produce higher boost - defeating several Motronic failsafe routines into the bargain. They do alter the fuel & timing chip (contents unknown as they are scrambled) but the results aren't exactly impressive as they run much too rich.

I'm sure that Superchips have plenty of happy customers in other cars, but their knowledge of the 10yr old Audi S2 (at best) is sadly lacking.
