If there is serious interest in a carbon bonnet ie 5 plus people @ £400 each then I can get them. That's a done deal with the carbon man.
        Let me know.

Ouch thats a lot of money!!!

I was tempted to do this as mine needs a respray from being pebble dashed etc, but thats a bit too much for me unless someone wanted to buy my bonnet for a reasonable price? Its straight, no dents or anything, just some stone chips around the front as to be expected with 164k miles

            BRY -

Are we talking all CFRP (+inserts), not just a single ply of carbon on a glass layup? I'd be interested, but I'd also be painting it - not in it for bling, in it for weight reduction.

What kind of mounting hardware would these have? Bonnet pins or existing equipment?

Yes we are, no it's not.
Original mounting hardware, except for the gas strut which would need removing / replacing with something more suitable to a carbon weight bonnet.

Do we know of any weaker gas struts from other cars which would fit, I am wondering what is used on the rear hatches of say a Lotus or a Noble? It would be a shame to loose the gas strut altogether.

                    Cheers n

I think you can de-pressurize struts, can't you?

Are they using epoxy or phenolic, rather than polyester? For heat resistance.

                            Sorry for shouting:

DEPRESSURIZING GAS FILLED STRUTS - CAN KILL YOU!

Tested on humans. They were lucky enough to avoid parts of the strut flying with the force of the bullet and braking everything in their path.

I strongly recommend never disassemble or modify pressurized gas filled parts of your car (shock absorbers, hood struts, brake pressure accumulator, air conditioning) without apropriate knowledge and tools. Serious, even fatal injury can occur in worst cases.
