First off a thank you to all here... I'm beginning to do a few DIY jobs on this car....from a twin left handed mechanic that's a step forward.
Driving home on Saturday the undertray came loose and was dragging along the road...fortunately not for too long so its repairable... and thanks to this board I removed it in one piece.
However what I did notice whilst under the car is that the underside of the front bumper is worn thro.... too much grounding and that the exhaut pipe which goes across the car to the separate cats etc is getting seriously bashed.
There is a sheet metal shroud over it which is held together with jubilee clips and even the cast iron pipe itself is showing scrape marks.....
Now this is NOT good in my mind.....
Is there a more robust protection that can be used in addition to the plastic undertray?
The rear mounting of the undertray seems to be a good place to add somethng ore robust....as I'm sure it attaches to the main chassis structure.....
Once I get replacement screws and clips I'll be putting the undertray back on but would like to provide a better protection..
Now I don't think the car is modded (ABY Avant) but it is very very low...most speed bumps are to be avoided.
The fun continued on the way home when all the e/windows and roof failed.. closed thankfully with working a/c... no lights on the switch panel so I'm going to look for a relay problem...
Thanks agian to all.
