    Carbon Fiber hood group buy...

In case you are just finding this old thread...
I have B4 carbon fiber hoods available for $639 US. Shipping to Europe is not cheap but not too bad if you club together. Be advised that TUV may want to do an inspection to remain legal in all repsects. Some have mentioned that they are concerned about the flamability of the resin.

At any rate, these hoods weigh a mere 5.7 kg are the highest quality available - made by Fiber Images, whos owner makes F1 chasiss on the side.

    If interested, contact ben@quattrospeed.com

I'd love one Ben, but you're right the shipping will be about $400. Are they being vented??

Maybe I can sweet talk Josh into sending me one for christmas?

    :-)

        Ben,

I was thinking about vents myself. Do you know if we can cut vents in the carbon fibre without screwing it up.

        Thx.

Yes, I saw it done in a magazine once. You cover the area to be cut with vinyl sticker material with your pattern on it and then slowly slice through. I can;t remember how the vent vanes were tilted but it looked cool. It was done to a CF hood on an M Roadster. I think that mag is around our shop so I will try to find it.

Yep, sounds crap to me too. You'll be cutting all the fibres. Isn't carbon fibre a thermoset plastic? I.e. you can only set it once and it can't be remelted. How can you form profiled vents in a cured carbon panel? You could just cut out shapes in it though, I guess.

it's great the way people project their own ideas into what other people post.

it was simply asked if it would screw up the cf if vents were cut in. something like this. remolding the cf was not mentioned

I guess I should always post a picture. worth 1000 words as they say

Sorry mate. Wrong end of the stick. I got it in my head that someone wanted to mould vents in a pre-cured panel. Vents look good in the picture. I work with carbon fibre so I have an idea about what you can and can't do,

I would like a bonnet like the SQ!! That looks fooking spot on. I would buy one and have it adapted, but at 11k I wont!!
