Hmm. My headlamp washers have stopped squirting. I can hear the motor pump for 1sec, but no fluid. I get juice on the windscreen though, and I can't see any blockage in the black nozzles - I'm guessing I've got a blockage in the line somewhere, or the pump itself? Where is that located, any BTDTs for cleaning it?

It's probably a dead pump. I had this on my Avant with both the windscreen and the headlamp pump (at different times).
They are side by side in the bottom of the washer bottle. You need to take the dirt shield out to get to them (or pull it out at the front). I'll pull out some diagrams/info when I get home.

Dead pump - good thinking, I have noticed that the pressure of the washer jets on the windscreen has dropped quite markedly, although I'm guessing there are two separate pumps for windscreen and headlamps?.

Two different reservoirs on the 3b, where as aby has one. The filler for the h/lamps is just behind the one right at the front for the windscreen.Originally posted by dan_bI'm guessing there are two separate pumps for windscreen and headlamps?.

Is that what that is then, I've always wondered what that did. If I put water in there it starts p*ssing out of the bottom of the car before it actually ever reaches the neck of the bottle, so that bottle is cracked somewhere and I've not bothered to fill it up - in fact the last time I did was at the garage meet. Could it be simply that that's run out?

Dan, I had this problem when I first got my S2. Pour water in the headlamp washer bottle, and it just flowed straight out underneath the car.
Like you, I feared the worse.
Take the headlight out and you'll find the washer pump behind it. Check the hose hasn't come off the pump. This is what happened to mine. I had to add a hose clip to stop the hose coming off again. It's been fine ever since.
I can now add a full 7 kilos worth of washer fluid with no probs.

I get this - but on the rear washer bottle (in the side of the boot). The big irritation with this is that instead of leaking all over the ground, you end up with a wet boot.Originally posted by 4WheelDrifterCheck the hose hasn't come off the pump.

I can't remember the last time I used the bidet. Maybe I'll check that. Just to see if it works.
I haven't had a wet boot since I changed the rear lights.

headlamp washers
there are 2 underneath (behind trim under headlight) and 2 screwed down from above through the slam panel. personally i always end up removing front bumper and trim under headlights anyway, but if anybody knows an easier way please let me (and dan) know.94 S2 Avant, Crystal Silver, slightly modded

Dan. I thought you fitted HIDs to your car? Shirley, you should know how to remove the N/S headlight.
Oh well. Here goes.
Just remove the piece of trim that runs under the headlights. It's held in with two 10mm nuts in the centre, and just lever either end to pop those out. I poke a socket through to get to the bottom nut, and a spanner to get to the top one. If that helps.
You'll be then able to get to the two bottom screws that secure the headlight easy. There are two screws on the top that go through the slam panel too.
Then the headlight should come out. Swing it out, pulling from the main beam end of it. IIRC the 3B headlights don't clip to the wing, so that may be easier.
Then just unplug the two electrical connectors to get it right out the way.
Re-fitment the reverse of removal.
But I always find it awkward to find the right angle to get the headlight back in. But it will eventually go back in.SSComment
