    Juddering Aero Wipers

I've spent the best part of 3 hours today trying to find out the cause of my juddering driver's side wiper (RHD). I've got the kit from vagparts. There seems to be a tiny bit of vertical play in the spindle and the motor seems to move slightly in the bracket. I've tightened everything up, but the judder still remains . What's baffling me is that it's worse the wetter the windscreen is . As the windscreen dries the judder starts to disappear. My washer fluid is pre-mixed screenwash from Halfords, but the judder is also there when it's raining.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

How much life should I expect from the blades? They've only been on a few months, but I have done several thousand miles in that time.

Bizarre. I found the Aero wipers completely cured me of the dreaded driver's side judder. I've had my blades for 12 months now and they still wipe cleanly: I would normally expect to replace blades at least as often as once a year.
That doesn't help you does it?

My rear wiper needs sorting, it judders on first wipe and I can't switch it off either...

No mate, i just can't justify paying £50 for aero wipers no matter how pretty they are at the moment.

Fair enough, especially as you're not getting any judder! Mind you, for your money you do get the blades with the arms!

They were great at first. Maybe changing the blades might cure the problem. If not, it must be a result of the play in the spindle. It's only minor though - 1mm at most.

Juddering is occurs if the rubber blade is unable to 'flip' with the direction of travel as the wiper sweeps across the screen. In most cases it's only the leading edge of the rubber that's split and needs replacing - (more so if your ten-year-old windscreen's very pitted).

Worst case scenario - it could be the wiper arms themselves - they may have bent slightly so they no longer hold the rubber at the desired angle relative to the screen.

The juddering aero wiper is apparently a hugely common problem, my mate at main dealer said he has lost count of the amount of people that complain about these wipers and strongly suggested i didnt put them on my car.

I have tho and for the first few days they were fine, now they judder in the rain as well and my windscreen is always kept clean and ive also tried running a damp cloth along the wiper as well to make sure its clean.

Something new to live with it would seem

The standard wipers look horrible in comparison to the aeros... My old wipers juddered like mad. The Aeros are silky smooth - I cannot fault them. Mine's a coupe if that makes a difference. The Avant has a different windscreen and stuff...
