    Rear Fog Light Shock

So, I'm sitting in my car, with my Dad behind the car, and I'm testing out all my lights...

He notices that my rear left-hand fog light is not working...
We take out the light housing to investigate, and discover that there is no bulb there.
After fitting a new bulb, we were shocked to find that the hole in the light cluster for that buld was non existent!...
We cut out the cheap thin plastic circle to make a hole for the bulb.

We were just shocked that there was only (and presumabely had only ever been) one rear fog light.
Is this standard for an S2? Or is something up?

To have 2 rear foglamps on the S2 Coupe with equal luminance, you'll have to replace the rear lamp cluster with one from a country that drives on the opposite side of the road to your home country - you can just press out the existing blanking tab, but bear in mind that cluster doesn't have a proper metal reflector, so the light from that side will appear dull compared to the original.

It just has a silvered / grey interior, and will dull even more over time due to the heat from the 21 W bulb.

Two (rear) fog lamps on make it appear that you are braking. One is much safer and I believe the latest regulations only call for a single rear lamp. Todays patchy but dense fog has the usual culprits driving about in clear conditions blinding all behind - never mind the " look at me Ive got front fogs" who drive with them on in all conditions......

Hmm, Kitty had two (equally bright!) rear fogs when I got her - but that could have been the previous owner's efforts I guess. Always remember my 80s having one, and a friend's A4 had only one.

Can't remember what my CQ has got.

While I tend to agree that one fog lamp looks less like brake lights coming on, it doesn't really work that way when the light is part of the main cluster (could be a failed bulb in the eyes of the driver behind). The only true way of distinguishing a fog lamp at the rear is for it to be totally separate from the cluster, how they used to be.

The old Ford Sierras were a real joke, they actually used the brake lights as fog lights when the fog light switch was thrown - and a secondary set of lights became brake lights - seriously! They "saw the light" and changed that on the next revision, but how could they have been soooo stupid?!!

My MY93 2.8 Coupe only had 1 fog light, but I added the second (~Delta is correct that you need to source a reflector or it will not be as bright as the drivers side).

Interestingly though, my MY95 S2 has both installed and according to the previous owner, that's how it came from Audi UK

                    Cheers n

P.S. You realise that it IS perfectly legal to shoot any 17 yr old chavs who drive around with their front fogs on all the time

According to the highway code 'You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves to avoid dazzling other road users' This is Law RVLR reg 27

                    So start shooting

I got a fine for the fogs after coming over the Woodhead pass (always foggy) and forgetting to switch them off.
I was in a BMW at the time, so I don't know if I qualified for chav status?

I was being followed yesterdauy by what I though initially was a Chav (/NED) with front fogs on (although they weren't too bright... maybe just standard lights lowered?)
Then I realised it was a DB7.... probably not a Chav then...

I got stopped one new years eve for driving with the front fogs on. Was 9pm and in a heavy snow shower. Really really wanted to ask the numpty cone head if he'd be there as quick if I'd lost it into a ditch through not being able to see where I was going easily. There's a time and place for them
