  • Fogllights and intakes

Since I smashed one of my foglights during a recent gravel trap excursion I should replace it. I have a genuine RS2 front bumper. I know the fogs are a Porsche 964 part.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of the intakes to fit in place of the foglights. I have seen somewhere these intakes with a small foglight built in but I have no idea where. I have searched quite a few Porsche specialists to no avail. Can anyone help? Will it look crap? Opinions too please!

    Cheers

Brilliant Martyn. I'll have to check where the mounting tab is on my broken one (top or bottom) because they are handed. Not sure it was the gravel trap because I haven't damaged the bumper itelf do it was probably a road stone or something! I'll search for the thread...should have looked first!!

Thanks. I stand corrected! I guess the 993 was in production (just) when the RS2 came out then.

@ Lee. what are you going to do with the air intakes? I am going to change to these to as this would be my third fog lamp now and they are not cheap at £90 a time!

Didn't really think about what do do with the left hand one yet. Right hand one may be suitable for feeding air to the airbox (bit like Dougs cold air duct). Plan was to fit one and see whether it gets a better ram effect than the thin intake on the right side of the grill. Might be really difficult to quantify unless something can be done with VAG-COM. I really want to keep front foglight capability though so I want the vents with the built in fogs. Primarily, though, I thought it might look good. Must be more robust than that big thin flat glass lens on the Porsche foglight too!

@Glen, that's probably the one Martyn pointed out. If it is left hand side I might go for it as it is my nearside that has gone. I was going to double check first just to be sure the one in the picture on ebay is the one I need.

@jubjub, did you ever get a price from Vagparts. I don't think I paid that much for mine when I bought the RS2 bumper through them. I bought a lot of stuff in one go and had a 1700+ quid order though after discounts so I may have got them a bit cheaper than someone just buying one light on its own! I hope so!

there is another design too. It uses golf III fog lights.
I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got quattro?

                          These ?

I got the pic from ebay a while back, so don't know where to get them. Not sure I like them - I never use my spot lights anyway, so will ditch the spots for vents when i, eventually, get the RS2 bumper.

Doug. Thanks. I really like those. I think it would look a bit different to the rest of the flock. Probably won't look that bad with the clear indicators that I have. I guess most would go for the straight vents or the Dahlback versions. I think I'll search for those alternative ones for that different look. I liked the front splitter too on the Dahlback one...looked phatt! Anyone got any ideas for sourcing these ones that Doug posted and also the splitter? I hate the Max Power look but I think that looks cool on the RS2 front.

Doug, I am contemplating doing the same mod as you for the headlights too. Did you do them both in the end or did you decide not to. I think it looked great on your darker coloured car. Not sure how it would look on mine. Have got a spare headlight so will try it out over xmas. Did you get a good enough finish by hand painting the black or did the lens disguise the brush strokes There wouldn't be many if your brush was smooth and the paint was thin enough though. Sould go well when the RS2 grill is on...ordered that too. Did you use a primer first?

Finally do you think there is room to duct air through the drivers side RS2 bumper foglight vent too feed your airbox ducting. I like what you've done there too. You will probably keep your exisiting setup but I was just wondering if there was room. I can't remember!

Cheers for the info, all. Much appreciated.
