Brake cooling ducts in place of foglights on S2 Bumper?

    Hello:

Has anyone replaced their foglights with brake cooling ducts on their S2 bumper?

Similar to the the cooling ducts from a porsche 993 that fit the RS2 bumper?

There's a few who have done similar or even the ones with the smaller fog light built in.
I think Doug and Mark H have done theirs. Try a search - you should find something.

Hmmm- those have been for an RS2 or RS2 style bumper...
How about for the stock S2 bumper?

Hmm, i want something like this too for my avant.
One option could be to modify the rs2 ones to be more rektangular, but that requiers some work with glassfibre/paste.

let me know if you find some examples.

I think I have seen some squared off ones before, I will ask my local bits bloke to look in his little black book and let you know.

                air ducts

I have not seen squared off air ducts. I have seen after market bumpers with the RS2 look but adapted for the S2 lights.

I think the problem is sourcing the squared off ducts. My advice is to go the RS2 route and get the 993 ducts which are pretty common.

                  Just spotted this on RS246

Brake cooling ducts from the VW Phaeton, might be worth a try adapting them for the S2 with a different plate to fit onto the suspension

Let's hope so, they look like plastic

As for fitting them to our cars, I suspect that only the big boys with 18" wheels will be able to fit them

I am still interested in an S2 squared version of the RS2 bumper air duct and 1/2 size fog light. Anyone found such a duct yet?

                      Cheers n

Think those phaeton ducts will be on my shopping with my next brake upgrade.

I'm still interested in ducts for the S2 bumper. I've spend quite some time searching for them over the past year or so and have still not found anything.

Yeah I would be interested if there are some available. Fog Lights are as much use as a chocolate tea pot most of the time. 99% of the time people leave them on whatever the weather and it seems hardly anyone uses them in the fog.

Why they dont reset the on switch when the engine is switched off i dont know.

                          Rant over!

As for the ducts I may see about finding some dimension, But im guessing they may need some tweaking & inner arch clearance could also be an issue

Could not agree more. Only f@ckwits drive around with their fog lights on. It really ****es me off, especially in the rain, as the ligh refelcts of the wet road. The law states that they are only to be used in cases of 'severely restricted visability'.

Some Fords in the 80's and 90's has fog light switches that reset when the ignition was turned off. It should be the law Strange as the S2 has an auto switch off on the heated rear screen, so why not an ignition linked fog light

On the S2 ducts idea, I know a fibre glass boat builder. If anyone has an RS2 duct, I could give it to him and let him measure my car and see what he would quote for making them. We would have to paint them ourselves but at least would could then use them with the mini fog lights as used in the RS2 ducts if wanted.

                              Wayya fink?
