Hi, has anyone got any idea as to what could be wrong with my sunroof.
If you turn the control in either direction there is a faint noise of the motor trying to work but nothing happens....
My sunroof mechanism seized up, I had to replace the cables, and water seal (I think this is why it seized up). It was a nightmere job, whole roof lining out. However, yours sounds like the motor is turning but not engaging the mechanism. There is a little bronze coloured cog on that the motor rotates that engages the cables. These cables have a worm gear type shrouding that allows them to move. This cog could have worn or broken. That would be the first thing I would check.
If you have to remove the whole unit, it is a two man job, and be careful not to shut you mates fingers in the sunroof . I did this by accident, wasn't a problem tho as the car was O.K
Thanks for the info , i'll have a look when i get a chance and keep you informed as to my findings.
Also does anyone know where i could find a copy of the optional extras that were fitted to the S2 as i'm curious to see what was standrd and what was not.

Something like that happened on my 4000s don't know if its the same problem but my sunroof came off track. It made a grinding noise one way and a faint noise if I just tried to open the moon roof
