    Problem with Cab Hood....HELP!!

Dad in S Africa is in need of help from anyone with knowledge of the cabriolet hood mech. I know it ain't an S2 but what you gonna do. You try to guide em as much as you can but eventually you have to let em make their own decisions And anyway its hot there and the petrol sucks!

"The problem is that his folding hood keeps sticking...sometimes it opens OK but wont close and sometimes vice versa. It always sticks at the same point...just after the hard cover opens about two inches. It always reverses OK. I've had the hydraulics checked and Audi say all the sensors are working but they can't fix the fault. Strangely it seems to be associated with the whole locking/immobiliser system...the thing sometimes make a 'beep' and sometimes doesn't. Sometimes the boot lock refuses to work and often if I fiddle with that I can get the hood to work!! All very wierd and bloody annoying."

Any suggestions or BTDT would be awesome, said it sounded like the lock was the prob but why?

Hood problems are usually related to the wiring loom in the boot - the wires that run up each side get bent every time the boot is opened and closed, eventually they break.

You can either replace the loom, or cut back the black sleve and splice new wires in.

I spliced in new wires and my hood, rear lights and lock all work fine..
