Greg,
IIRC VW glof subframes are a direct for for the coupe. This is why I bought Mk3 subframes..... I will widen them to suit they are electric height adjust recaro units which will hopefully go with the heated recaro seats I got ages ago from Fleabay.
Hope this may help.

I don't know about the MKIII golf subframes - I was under the impression that VW subframes were all narrower that the 80 based seats.Originally posted by Greg_Shave you got any pics of it? did they chop it off old seat and then weld the new runners to it?
Not sure where my info came from - but if you look at recaro.com, they list the adapters as different part numbers for the (80/Coupe/Cab/S2/RS2) as the Golfs and passats. If they were the same fitment, I wouldn't have thought they'd make different subframes.
And regards chopping up the subframes from an existing 80 seat - I'm currently in the process. And it's not an easy job. The subframe actually makes up the seat frame too, meaning that to cut enough away to make a flat surface for the recaro to mount onto, the structure of the subframe is entirely cut up. It is certainly more involving than just cutting the seat off and welding a flat on top of what is left
Can provide pictures if needed. Any help or suggestions from 'Been there done that' ers would be appreciated!Comment

Wouldnt mind some pictures.
Andy. It definetly gives more support, my problem is that my head touches the roof on bumps and with a helment on I get a crick in my neck with my head in the sunroof.
The recaro subframe has some room underneath it and will proabably see if I can get it re welded so that it sinces about 1-2" lower.Greg
