    Strange thing I have noticed

I hope I have put this in the correct part of the forum but I didn't know which to go for.

A friend of mine noticed to day that on level ground the rear drivers side of the car seem to be sitting a bit lower than the right. This was clarified by measuring the gap between the tyres and the arch. there is a good 20mm difference.

Any clues as to what would cause this as this wheel is the one that is sitting a bit further forward than the other side too. (see my other thread)

    Cheers

Check your springs are located properly, and that one hasn't snapped.
I snapped a spring on my Mk1 Golf and it it dropped by about the same on one side.

@Greg - surely if the chasis was bent there would be the tel tale signs in the bodywork. Gaps being bigger on one side to the other, a slight ripple in the roof of the car?

@SKi - I know I do need to replace the shock although they have just passed an MOT (which I know means nothing)

@ Bry - the whole of the bottom of the car is supposed to be off this weekend for new bits so I will have a look then

          Cheers guys

More likely that one spring is a little softer than the other, just a little more "tired" - it happens. Dampers are not supposed to support the weight of the car, just to dampen the sprung movement. The springs take the load, so a soft spring would be top of my list.

Hopefully a set of springs could cure this then?
