    Driver's Door Won't lock.

My driver's side door won't lock.

I have just driven across Exmoor, parked up, and locked the car fine.
A little later I went back to the car and unlocked it, but I couldn't get it lock again.
With a few townie looking rally spectators about, I didn't fancy leaving the car unlocked. So after hours of fiddling about with the door locks and handles, I've had to come home without seeing a single car run through the stage.

The lock won't budge using the key or the button inside.
I'm just going to take the door card off to see if I can see anything.

I had a bit of a strange deal with mine during the stint with no remote CL last year.
Sometimes the drivers door won't lock if I didn't first turn the key in the opposite direction, and then hearing an audible "click". Then it would lock as normal Never did get to the bottom of it even after removing the door card. Give it a go, can't harm.

Jas that sounds the same as my drivers lock as well, doesnt always happen, in fact only v rarely happens now, but does exactly what you describe, if you put the key in the lock to unlock the lock (even tho its already unlocked) i can hear a click and then it will lock fine. Very strange because i couldnt find a reason for it either.

Well, I've taken the door card off. And it's fixed.

I have spotted something that may have caused the problem. The stud on the back of the carbon trim looks like it has been getting in the way of the door lock button.
I did have to trim this stud a little when I put the trim on a couple weeks ago, even though it appears to be in the same position as the original.
But it is strange, as the the lock seemed to have a lot of resistance.

I've put it all back together now and it works again. For now.
I was tempted to leave the door card off. It weighs 5kg in total!

Try driving the car with it off, amazing how much noise they cut out. Had to drive my old 2.3e coupe for a few days with one off, think thats why I'm now partially deaf.... Pardon?

Yeah. BTDT. It sounds like you're driving with the door open.
I used to have a daily driver with no interior. If it didn't need to be in the car for it to function, it wasn't there.
It was extremely loud inside, but boy, did it go, stop and handle so much better.
