    Sunroof Lubrication

The movement of my sunroof has gone quite stiff and I'm thinking I need to give the mechanism a bit of lube to free it off. The motor seems to be OK as it works fine on the bits where the movement is still free.

Any suggestions for a suitable lube for the runners and cables on my sunroof. Are WD40 or silicon lubricant a good idea or do I need some special expensive dealer only sunroof grease?

    Cheers

I have always used WD40. I realise that is it not as long lasting as some of the other greases but I don't like that white stuff everywhere, and am happy to lube it once a year....

    Cheers,

I have used motorbike chain lube in the past, it goes on thin and then drys off quite well, last longer than wd40 too.

Workshop manual recommends silicone grease every 20k service.

WD40 is a water dispersant, not a grease and not suitable

            Thanks for the advice chaps

I'll try some silicone grease when the rain stops for long enough for me to get out
