is there a nice way to remov the glass? i dont want to have a ton of glass in the car and if i scratch my dash i shoot myself right away.

    help needed

removed the pillar trims and the trim on the top, tryed to cut the silicion on one side, but the thing is very hard and i could spend a month cutting it...

This looks like a specialist job bro, my advice would be get a screen specialist in! Guess it might be different where you are but in blighty there are lots of firms that only do auto glass. Not all are any good but its not really a diy job.

I have been told that the S2 glass is a real PITA to do because of the sealant and glass trims on the outside....

As above I would only let a good specialist glass place do this for you...

You would need to spend 200 euro ++ on tools to do this job right IMHO....+ glass

I would make the drive on this one.....

tools? if everything else fails, the only tool i will need to remove the glass will be a 5kg hammer. to put the new glass back on i will only need to buy apropriate sealant.

Dude, the screen is bonded on for good reason, it is part of the strength of the shell. If you wanna smash it out and stick on a new one thats cool but i think the general advise here would be get it done right.

The specialist uses all sorts of oscillating saws and stuff and the bead of sealant is fairly critical IIRC, two things i get specialists to do, tyres and screens. You wouldn't hack off your old tyres with a knife and then bash on the new boots and hope for the best would you?

Only advise but that is what was asked for.

You have a saloon Skull? yes?
If so then its a little easier than the coupe to repair.

First I'd recommend, as have others, to get it replaced by the professinals.

If you "really" need to do this yourself, then a minimum of tools can be used. (I'm taking this info from the factory manuals, simplified for this post)
First remove all trim around the outside of the screen.
Next get a tool we call here, an awl. This is a thin screwdriver type tool that has a hole on it's sharp pointed end, a thin screwdriver filed down to a sharp point will be ok.
This tool is pushed through the sealant from the inside to the outside between the glass and the frame. Next you need some very strong thin wire, strong enough not to snap easily. Tie the wire to the tool that you have pushed through the sealant, then pull it back through to the inside. Next using an assitant, use the wire like you are cutting cheese, in a back and forth motion. Work you way around the screen until the wire has cut through the sealant. Remove old screen and carefully remove all the sealant from the now exposed frame. Be careful not to damage the metal or it may rust in the future.
You'll need to get some proper windscreen sealant, silicone "isn't" good enough to do the job. This is a structural part of the car. You'll also need some glass lifting suction cups to lift the new glass into place.
When applying the sealant, cut a "V" into the nozzle of the sealant tube. This will put a thin, and high bead of sealant around the screen, ensuring even coverage and adhesion.

Again, I'd take to a professional, I did this years ago on my old Astra GTE, whilst I successfully did the job, it took a LOT of work, and I'd never ever try it again.

Do this at your own risk.

                Jas..

Not a job I'd undertake at all. Even if it was a 350 mile job, I'd get it done proffessionally. Definitely not a driveway special...

The Audi Coupe is famous for having just about the hardest screen to replace, although the saloons are a tad easier.

I have had screens replaced in the last 2 Coupes and it took 3 refits on the first car and 2 refits on the second and I was still not happy with either car

Therefore, my advice (on top of the GET A PROFESSIONAL!) would be make sure he is at least 50 years old!! The older the fitter, the more experienced he will be and he will need at least 40 years experience to have a 10% of getting it right

                          Cheers &
