  • Passenger side door - Door lock problem

    Hello hello

So suddently a problem appeared on my car. (91' s2 3b)

I cannot open the passenger door from inside, only from the outside. It feels like the door isnt "shutting properly".
When I open the door it feels to easy to open it. Like no resistance. But the door is closed, I cant drag it out etc.

I see when I pull the handle that the lock is "reacting" but not opening.

Is it a wire issue inside the cardboard/door? or the lock itself? ( I had to grease it up 1 year ago because it was so slow ).

I was guessing it was maybe the wire that isnt properly pulling enough to release the door lock? That it only engages like 30-50% ?

    Anyone else had this issue?

    - Lars

Sounds like the rod has come dislodged, if you are lucky at the handle, in which case you can fix it without removing the door card.

By rod you mean? Is there something to tightening it. Ive had off both door-boards earlier when I changed a window etc.
Ill try check that first maybe. hmm

Make sure that the outer sheath for the pull wire is seated properly with the retaining clip in place at the inside handle

I've had this on my both left and right hand doors - when I took the door cards of I pulled on the actual door lock sleeve and not the inner cable which means it got dislodged and didn't sit properly any more. This prevented me from being able to lock the door as the whole rod mechanism got misaligned (and the doors wouldn't lock). Took me on a while goose chase until I looked at how that particular cable wasn't pulling properly.
Placing the cable back into its proper place fixed the issue for me.

Yeah noticed in etka its supposed to sit in some "clamps" /clips in the door? Wonder if mine are still there. Wondering maybe its possible to use zipties etc to hold it in place
