    Accessing wiring on RS2 mirrors

So, I've twisted the mirror and taking the bolt out, managed to remove the door card including breaking a few of the tabs when pulling it off (now where's my superglue?) which hasn't helped in the slightest, and still this thing is stuck on tight and I can't see how to get to the wiring.

Basically, I want my eleccy mirrors working and the wiring is unconnected. Knew this when I bought the car and never got round to sorting it out till today.

Any BTDT, I must be missing something stupidly simple, as to how I can access the wiring on the mirror? Do I need to do more dismantling now the door card is off

    Good luck on this one!

You've taken out all 3 bolts? 2 cheese heads and one at the side of the mirror?

I did this and the wiring isn't loose inside the door it's strapped all the way inside the door membrane to the top!!!!

I couldn't reach the last few to release them and had to get the mrs to reach them as my arm was too bit to get to them.

Um no, I haven't taken out all 3 bolts

So you have to unbolt the mirror from inside the door, ie do i have to take the window etc off as well to access it??

I really thought that was quite a simple job, remove the door card and unscrew the 'hidden' 4mm allen bolt on the mirror, pull it off and play with the wiring. y, how I was mistaken

Where's the 2 "cheese" bolts then? ON the underside of the mirror?

No there two bolts either side of the mirror on the outside. You need to swing the mirror in both directions.

Then beneath the black cap on the side (if you have one) there's another bolt.

Thats what holds the mirror to the door, it's all external

AH gotcha, not sure how I missed that... yes I have a black cap

OK the mirror is off now damn I made that alot more difficult than it needed to be! And wasted my time with the door card

Good news: Tim has fitted some little connectors so no soldering involved.

Bad news: The wiring is about 1" too short (wont be laughing for long...)

              Cheers Jamo

I now have one working heated, electric RS2 passenger-side mirror

Next: can I get the doorcard re-fitted, and the other mirror wired up before it gets dark?
