Advise on rust treatment - URS4

    Hi chaps,

I have this fear of my car absolutely rotting out and needing scrapping

There is some rust around the bottom of the A pillars, I've cleaned up as much as I can, used Bilt Hamber hydrate, topped with zinc primer & paint, but I don't know whats the best approach for the hard to reach areas (see pictures).

Current process is getting as much loose stuff off, get some hydrate 80 in there, primer, some sorta paint and then maybe cavity vax?

I've also noticed that what seems to he seam sealer is separating in places, again, what's the best course of action?

    Can anyone advise?

    TIA

I would remove the sealant with careful application of a blow torch, then rattle the area with a descaler gun, wire wheel the rust till it shines, treat with BH deox gel for a few days, the BH Hydrate 80, etch primer, seam sealer and paint. Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 is the best.

I did huge areas of the S2 this way, upside down so the gel is ideal.

It is a pity I didn't take pics of one bad area at all stages.

Typical rot softened with a flame and descaler rattled

    Sanded back to bare rusty

    Garnet blasted

Deox gel multiple times as blasting not an option

    Etch primed

Hydrate 80, then etch, then 3M waterborne shutz

    Painted
