Door Cards Back from Auto Upholsterer

Just got my door cards back form a local auto upholster. After reading about what a pain they can be to get the trim stuck back down, I decided to leave it to the professionals. Glad I did. Apparently it made a terrific mess and problems removing the glue and failed foam before applying new foam and fabric. And the way the door card is made leaves nothing to wrap the fabric around. He ended up tucking it into what rebate there is and then adding in a piping to lock it in place. Tried to show that in the pictures. Really pleased with the job for AUD$200 per door. Question though - does anyone know the part number(s) and/or source for the little rubber trim price that seals the back edge of the door/window in the last picture (the door lock end not the hinge end)? Been searching Audi Tradition but can't find any yet.

The OEM part numbers for those inserts are

Left - 895867693
Right - 895867694

These are officially called sealing elements. As far as I'm aware, the OEM part is no longer available, but there are what looks like replicas/ remanufactured versions out there. I also believe Audi Tradition stocks the replicas. The two left and right front OEM sealing elements are still available to buy. I own a product design and mould making company, and I'm midway through designing these to match the quality of the OEM front ones, along with a load of other NLA parts for the Coupes. The versions currently available are plasticy and in my opinion, not the best quality when compared to the OEM front ones. The fronts are made from a flexible polyurethane and have a nice matte finish to them. The rears are a harder, semi-flexible plastic with what looks like no finishing done to the mould, and there's flashing on the edges of the finished parts. With all that said, you should be able to run those part numbers through Audi Tradition and find a set.

He's made a nice job of that using the rubber cord idea, I did one in the summer that fell of in the heat, the old adhesive is disgusting. I get the rubber piece you need as 893 867 694 01C but Tradiation don't have it and a search came up nearly blank.

This is brilliant to hear. Would you consider making door seals and the exterior window aperture seals for coupes and the rear ones for cabs?

There are some other awkward rubber mouldings on cabs that are NLA…you could count me in!

No - at least not for now. The interior was actually in pretty good condition - just the trim to the door cards that had failed. There is a kind of authentic 90s aroma about the car, which my detailer tells me is most likely the carpet underlay so that may get replaced at some point.

Next job is to refurb the struts and replace strut tops and a heap of bushings. Just waiting on Strut-Stop and Arm-Stop kits from Lago Blue who, by the way, has been incredibly helpful with advice on the back-channel chat. Just a shame delivery has got caught up in a strike by Canada Post!

Those are the right parts, but I think you can actually get them cheaper and genuine on Audi Tradition

Those look like a set of genuine fronts and remanufactured rears. I ordered a complete set from Audi Tradition. I received exactly what is in those photos on that eBay listing: a set of fronts with OEM part numbers on the back, made of flexible polyurethane with a nice matte finish, and another two that look like they're remanufactured with a 'plasticy' finish and no OEM part numbers stamped. It's pretty common for people to buy them in bulk from Tradition and resell them as complete sets or front/ rear pairs, as that seller is doing on eBay.

If you follow this link to Tradition for the right-hand side rear sealing element, you can see that it says "ADAPTER PIECE, THIS PART IS A REPRODUCTION" in the description.

Watch out for eBay, some sellers are buying Audi parts from AT and selling them in the UK at large markup, ranging from reasonable import profit to totally obscene markup prices.

895867693 and 895867694 are €28.96 each on AT. I’d buy those before blowing £160 on eBay.

Sorry I missed this post the other day. I'll certainly consider making any parts that are NLA so that as a community we can keep these cars alive.

Once I've made headway with any of the parts, I'll let people know on the forum/ gauge interest with my own thread. Sorry to the OP for semi-highjacking this thread!
