  • Coupe windshields -european contacts?

So, because i am clearly a glutton for punishment, i am considering picking up another coupe. It's been for sale for a while and looks saveable, mostly with parts i already have. The asking price is now approaching that of a 7a cylinder head, which makes parting a feasible fallback plan.

Of course it looks like it needs a windshield (what's with coupes and windshields? Is there a design flaw???). The usual source on this side of the continent is out of stock.

Anyone have leads on a source over there that would ship? I would consider a bulk purchase as i have space to store extras.

Your looking about $900 per screen currently to ship to America (Canada is probably similar, that is the price from the companywith nothing added on like tariffs etc)

My friend has been in talks about bringing some over.

Deleting highshool dramatic bs. My apologies to the group.

For giggles i did contact pilkington classic and i got a response this morning. £365 per windshield with a 15 week lead time. Not awful if time is not an issue. They would do a single one if i asked. I'd pull the trigger if it weren't for the shipping quote. £1600 for 1 unit or £3500 for 2-10 units. And that's BEFORE customs got their hand in my wallet when it got here. I have asked if there are other options. I guesstimated the package dimensions and UPS says £350, which is much better but that doesn't include any info on the fragility of said package. I'll put this on the backburner and see if i can figure somethibg out. I have also contacted glavista with no respose yet.

I put this out there for anyone desparate right now. Basically, you CAN get glass but you gotta wait and shipping is stupid expensive.

For that price you could fly over and cruise back with it on a liner and still have change.

"I'm sorry sir, that will not fit in the overhead compartment" lol.

A buddy pulled out some serious man math, "buy a coupla cars, get a container for them and the you'd have lotsa space for a crate of windshields".....

                  I mean, he's not wrong.....

Well, wasn't that lucky on my part. Pilkington offers several variations of coupe windshields. I just happened to ask about the cheapest variant. I enquired about the others. They go all the way up to £745. But shipping's the same lol

You’ll likely need to source the coupe windshield from overseas since local stock is out. Check AutoGlassJapan, which ships internationally, NordGlass, a Europe-based supplier, or global marketplaces like Alibaba. Make sure to confirm exact model fit and get shipping insurance. Buying in bulk is feasible if you have space. The scarcity isn’t really a design flaw; it’s just that coupe windshields are low-demand, so suppliers often don’t keep them in stock.

Once you've got a screen the fun begins as fitting a Coupe screen correctly is a sod of job, if you've done one before then you know what to expect.

I keep meaning to scan the pages out the Bently manual that pertain to windscreen installation and post them up on here as without that info it's impossible to get the new screen in the correct place which is essential for getting the a-post trims back on.
