    Cutting Rear Bumper

Has anybody ever cut the back bumper to house the number plate? Does it have the strength to take it? Im doing the rs2 reflector conversion and I want to mount the number plate in the bumper. As the reflector aint cheap i dont want to spend a fortune

if i were you, i would take the numberplate surround from and audi 80 B4, and weld it into the rear bumper. both bumpa and surround are made from ABS plastic, so the welding would be nice and strong.

              cheers

any pics mate? was gunna use the original number plate surround that others have done. trying to do all of this without the need for spraying.
Will carefully etch and cut the hole and file it to the nearedt mm for the plate to slot in snuggly

yes i did this to an audi 80 avant rear bumper without respraying it and the plastic numberplate surround just fitted in behind the bumper..,.. on the coupe i dont know though.. and my bumper was black making it look better... dremmel is the key...

yes i agree dremel is the way forward. I was thinking of making the hole about 5mm too small for the insert so that once pushed in it overlaps and you wouldnt see the edges

im not sure what to do:

                          1) Use the existing reflective surround and put it in

                          2) Use the surround and spray it same colour (laser red)

                          3) use an audi 80 boot number plate surround in black plastic

                          Decisions.......lets vote ?
