    Window squeaking

    heeeelp!

Has anyone any experience with this???
Mine is a coupe and it only squaks when the window is moving.

I've tried Krytox on the outer rubber seal - no change
I've tried spraying silicon lube down the window gap onto the window rails. - no change.

I took off the door panel.

Now the inner rubber seal was gone & I could pull the glass away from the outer seal. As it moved, the glass did not touch the outer seal - squeak still there! Right - so it's not the top rubbers.

That leaves: the runners, the cables, the motor.

I then thought OK, perhaps the runners need grease. Didn't have any proper auto stuff so slapped a load of Vaseline (petroleum jelly) up and down the full length of the runners. - slightly better but still squeaking.

OK so I tried bending the cable sheathes as the motors were working. This also seeled to help - so maybe it's the cables. But I can't get in there to lube them up???

    AAAAAh. !!!

So - has anyone any experience????

Oh and thanks martyn for the loan of the Krytox - will return ASAP!
At least my accelerator pedel doesn't creak anymore!

      yeah mine did too.
As did the one on my old coupe too.

Basically there is a spring between the metal lever and the plastic pedal. I though it was where the spring pushes on the plastic or the pivots. It was actually the coils of the spring itself.

A couple of squirts with the silicon lube and it's silent again

thank god for that.......the windows WILL stop squeaking.

My windows squeak too on my coupe. I reckon its the cables as they are slightly rusty, but i cant afford to replace them at the mo. Not after my head gasket failure last week

I just put up with it. Don't mend it if it aint broke!! IMHO

Only prob is that it then breaks when you dont fecking want it to

            Hi,

My windows only squeak in hot weather! If it's cold they are totally silent. In my case it's deffo the rubbers because a little silicone spray removes the squeak for a few weeks

Anyone taking any of that Krytox to Combe? I'll pay a few quid for a squirt

            Cheers
            Steve.

                Alistair,

sorry to hear it's still making the noise..... Tom's idea about the cables rusting internally is maybe the cause then, but you really don't want to take them of.... not good idea... sorry about that...

I'll bring some Krytox with me Steve.

sorry to dig up old thread.

My drivers window creaks badly going over bumps.

if you open the door and hold the top of the window and wiggle it, it creaks
                  anyone had the same??

all my other rattles have been sorted with silicone sealant, adhesive backed foam and patients but this is doing my nut in. Cant just seal up the door.

also where do I get a tool for taking the interior panel off?? its a really long allen key and a socket allen driver wont fit cos the socket bit is too wide.

                  anyone improvised??
