There must be some Ur quattro guys here that know about this sort of thing.
Mine has been fully waxoiled and undersealed

Rust prevention has moved on alot, new products are much more scientifically tested/designed than the old school schutz type prouducts. The POR15 can be painted on a rusty piece of tube, then when its dry you can hammer it flat and it dosn't chip! if you get it on your skin its like a tatoo! there for weeks!
Best tip with POR is to after opening the tin, change to a coffee jar or something with a plastic lid, glass jar. I have not done this at first and the lid gets so sealed on with the paint you have to destroy the lid to get back in! its like its been welded on! Amazing stuff.

Most 3M stockists have the sealer, the part number :3M08800
, it does need its own gun,not expensive. Lovely finish and super tough.

Stay away from any Hammerite products.

Undercoat/primer should be POR15. frosts sell it.
Then 3M bodysealer, comes in a bag, two part epoxy product, very similar to the OE Audi seam sealer. This can be painted body colour as Audis are originally. Then Dinitrol 3125 followed by Dinitrol 4941.
I am in the restoration business and have seen and used this method for many years. it lasts for ever!
Thanks Rob. I've seen POR 15 Rust Prevention Paint and POR15 Chassis Coat Black. But where do I get that other stuff? It doesn't need to be painted body colour, black is good enough.

I prefer the control of a brush. Especially since I've painted the engine bay.

started a topic What Underbody Paint?

    What Underbody Paint?

I think I've managed to get rid of all the rust that was under the chassis legs and wheel arches on my Old Banger 3B, and given it all a good coat of zinc primer.

What is the best thing to coat it all with now? Waxoyl? Stone chip paint? Black tractor paint? Hammerite?
What did Audi use originally? I know it's some sort of flexible stuff that wasn't stuck too well in places.

I don't want this damn rust to come back again for a while, I've had enough lying upside-down wire brushing, sanding and painting.
