Modifying avant handle for 20v panel

Can anyone point me towards where you have to cut it?
I had to replace mine anyway due to the original one breaking, which was still fitted when I put the panel on.
I originally cut it where the red line is in this pic, but it turned out that was not enough and it still hits the back of the panel before it operates the mechanism.
I can only guess you have to cut it where the blue line is?
Surely that wont leave much to grip onto with your fingers when opening it?

u still have to reset the opening. there are opening rods going to each corner of the rear door, and on them, u have a black plastic pin, which is used to set the opening.

Ah, you mean the long rods with the adjusters on half way down them?
So adjusting them is part of it, rather than cutting the handle shorter?

yes the adjusting is part of it, and it still wont be enough, you will have to get rid of the dead movement of the handle mechanism. take the handle in you hand, and press it like you are opening da door. look where it grabs the mechanism. i remember putting a nut somewhere... it was a long time ago...

I never thought about "removing" the slack from the handle travel before it operates the locks, shall definitly look into that
I am not trying it until Sunday due to various reasons, so will no doubt be doing lots of trial and error adjustments then!

keep the rear doors open, do not cover the plastic trim of the boot door, cuz u will need to get into the boot to open the hatch by pulling the two rods. if you dont mind spending money, buy a rear door handle of an audi A6 avant C4.
