Just wondering if anyone can piont me in the right direction. My sunroof only opens a couple of inches then stops. It tilts okay but its not sliding? Any ideas? I know this is a common fault on Corrado's as there motor's fail. Is this the same case with S2's?
Sounds like motor, if you pull the plastic cover off the roof there is an allen key to manualy open/close the sunroof. You could try that to confirm the cable is still working.
Motor might just need a rebuild to clean the contact tracks, or just pick up a second hand one cheap.

Odd i have the same problem, my roof tilts although one side is higher than the other when tilted, it does wind back about half way then starts to not sit square in the aperture like it's hitting on something. If i wind it back closed then it struggles to fully close.
I had same sort of problem with mine, there's two steel twisted (looks like curtain wire) wire's run down each side of roof & pass through sunroof motor gear.
L/H side wire had dried up (no oil) and caused it to strip thus the roof kept makeing a horrible grinding noise and slipping a couple of notches on the gear.
I had to strip out the sunroof side runner's poped the wire up & gave it a turn of 180 deg been fine ever since.
Oh yes had to drop sunroof motor first, then roof slides back quite freely into roof lining.
Hope this helps or give's a different idea.
