    Repairing underseal / stone-chip

I noticed whilst crawling about under my CQ at the weekend that there are a few rips and tears in the stone-chip or underseal (whatever the technical terms is )
    under the car...

Has anyone got any experience of repairing this stuff? I thought whether I could wire brush around the affected areas to removed the existing protection and any corrosion and then simply recoat it?
I will be removing the rear subframe and associated parts at some point to renew bushes and generally refurb - this might be a good opportunity to repair any issues at the rear of the car in the underseal - has anyone got any advice for me?

    cheers

I found that some of the underseal just peels off. Other sections I attacked with a wire brush drill attachment. I would've liked one of those things that rolls your car on its side, as the dirt and paint goes all over you.

The original underseal was poorly done IMHO, once you remove things like subframes and heatshields you'll find there is none behind there, just bare primer.

looks like i'll need a few days to do this porperly then... i wonder if its worth stripping the underbody back to metal and starting again with decent products?
Not the kind of job you want to do again really.
