Anyone know a good source for clear side indicator lenses ? I can only seem to find the original (orange) ones or smoked versions...

You can get them in Halfords, but they look ****!
They're exactly the same as the orange ones except that they are perfectly clear, so you see the bulb and the bulb holder and everything.
If anyone knows of an alternative that fits I'd be happy to listen.ex '93 Avant owner

I got some from Halfords that are clear but opaque so you can't see the bulb etc. They were about £14 for the pair. GSF used to have them but I've looked on the website and they only list smoked at the moment in rectangular - £5 each)
The side repeaters are the same as for Mk2 Golfs (AFAIK) so loads of places should have them.

If you can find someone that supplies MHW ones, they are the best looking ones IMHO. ABC design in Coventry are the UK importers, but they don't sell to the public.
Try to see the MHW ones.
I saw some clear ones at Castle Comb last Saturday, but they were disgusting!
Also.... Hella make these, so check out a Hella or maybe even Bosch distributor.

Aren't these the same design as Golf mk II? If so, every barry boy reseller and VW tat specialist will stock these in a variety of lurid colours and finishes. I have a set of clear ones that I cannot seem to get onto my Corrado, probably because thy are a bit rubbish, if anybody wants them, PM me. I fancy a smoked pair for mine.Avant. Stock.

I had some clear ones on my old coupe (forget who I bought them from now), but they were really clear and you could see the orange bulb through the lens, so the whole thing just looked like a fried egg. I am trying to find the clear, but opaque ones and even though they are the same as the MkII Golf, I still can't seem to track the right ones down...
Someone out there must know a source - I'll trawl through the various styling accessory ads if I have to, but then I'd have to go out and buy a copy of Max Power or something and I'm not sure I can face the embarassment...Boring Green ABY Coupe.

I've found some mhw chromeline ones from direct car parts. I had a set on my old polo and they looked ok. They also do those silvatec bulbs. Has anyone had any experience with them? They seem ideal for curing the 'fried egg' effect.
Total cost £34.98 (£19.99 for the indicators, £15.99 for the bulbs). I will probably order some up later. If they look ok I'll post some pics.

I have some opaque ones from halfords. IMHO they look good and were less than £12 I think.....
Thing is with halfords- you need to go to one of the big stores - and even then the ripspeed dept just picks the lines they want to stock out of a catalogue - think I might just have been lucky...

I bought the ones form Halfords - £11.99 I think. I also bought some Silver bulbs - from GTI International for £4.
I thinks they look good and haven't seen better.
I also have smoked ones in the for sale section - going free to a good home.

Here they are:
The silvatec bulbs are a bit dodgy. All they are is a standard orange bulb coated in chrome with little scratches down the side to let orange light out. Look ok though, a bit like minature angel eyes.
The blue KA in the background is the missus's car. Can't think why she's always pestering me to let her drive minethe best intentions are fraught with disappointment - gil grissom

I'll give you two guesses.
I've tried new batteries, no joy. Not got round to digging further yet. I'll get it working at some point, even though I'm changing my lock set and deleting the locks on the front doors. If my local friendly bodyshop ever get's round to modifying the lock plates.
I need to see the wiring diagrams for it so I can find out where the next 'heath robinson' bodge is. Do you have it? and if you do does it work?
I'll never use it but if it's on the car it's got to work. Thats why the A/C had to go. I couldn't live with knowing it wasn't working. I will be rewiring the re-circ to work without having the A/C on, and maybe using the A/C switch for something else (I have a couple of ideas for it)

hmm, daft question then huh? ;-) Wiring diagram is going to be needed for sure to help with that one, good luck. I don't have infa-red no. I used one of the genuine Audi remote upgrades, 3 minutes to fit an Avant, 2 hours to fit a Coupe ;-)
Good luck with the remote mate.
