Rieger RS2 bonnet grille - how to fit the rings?

I decided to order the Rieger replica RS2 bonnet grille, rather than waiting for the proverbial rocking horse pooh to surface (at twice the price of a new replica).

It's spot on and a perfect fit. Now, their website makes it clear that the 4rings are not included, but that these can easily be removed from the original grille.

So far, so good - 4rings easily removed from the original grille, but the prongs which survived the removal (they're glued in) are very short and only protrude a couple of mm through the new grille, making them pretty useless for attaching it to the grille.

Has anyone done this? I'm looking for a neat solution (ie not cable ties!). Perhaps the 4rings from a different model would make for a better fixing?

    Thanks in advance

If you look at an RS2 grille, the chrome rings aren't attached directly to the grille's mesh. They sit on a black raised frame, rather like the raised part of a standard grille, yet it's separate.
It's available to buy, Paulgo bought one to fit to a kamie grille once.
I'll hunt it's part number down.

Peter - I'll get some pics put up tonight.

        The badge isn't a problem to attach - it's the 4rings...

why would you take the silver rings off their plastic base in the first place ? The plastic base has the small proturing nips on which some screwing clips which hold the rings in place? Those can be found on audi dealers.I dont think it will look bad!

On the S2, the base that the rings are attached to is part of the grille and does not detach (which appears to be different on the RS2 one from what Jase says), or have I missed something...?

Is yours an original RS2 or replica?

I'm trying to search for the part number. It is 100% available though.
Trouble is the FA is very vague with the RS2 grille. It has a generic B4 grille for it's illustration.
                            I think it's 8A0 854 641.

My advice would be to phone Marty, Paulgo was in the same boat (going back 4 years now, hence I'm a little cloudy on remembering) Marty knew what he needed.
