Tailgate dampers fine this morning nackered tonight

The tailgate dampers on my s6 avant just stopped working today, I mean completely and you wouldn't believe what the tailgate ways when they pack up, there was no warning,no gradual decrease in there operation just all then nothing, its like someone nicked them and put there old ones on,weired.
So its replacement time where is the best place to by and how much.

same thing happened on my avant a couple of weeks back, closed the boot but was still next to it, then a few seconds later a reasonably loud hiss from the boot and then nothing......guessing the same happened to yours although you weren't around when they leaked.....such a pain to have to lift it to put shopping ect in......

pretty sure you don't have to buy oem ones as gas struts are widely used in industry.
Just measure open and closed length and do a web search....

Thanks guys, it just seems odd that they both failed at the same time, unless one was already shot, and one side is enough to hold the boot.

One is usually enough to just hold the boot open if it's working well. Wouldn't last long though!

I wish everything on these cars was as cheap and easy to fix as this, snap of snap on and the cost from GSF £29.53 + vat, with trade £13.75 + vat pretty good I reckonthats for the pair by the way.
