separating RS2 door mirrors

I'm in the process of getting some everything together to go to the painter and need a little help.

Does anyone know how to separate the mirror housings from their bases? I was thinking that it would be easier to paint them separately.

Just mask them off well the sprayer wont give you a discount for stripping them and they are a nightmare to strip down to just the shell and you risk damaging an epensive set of mirrors in the process

OK, that's what I was thinking. It seemed like a painful task to separate them and I definitely do not want to damage them.

Yes mask them, better than risk damaging the mirrors and the time and effort stripping them wont improve the paint finish and you'd be sure to scratch them when reassembling..been there done that and bought the Tshirt as they say....
