    Carbon fibre Wrapping?

I have been looking into getting my wing mirrors resprayed especially the drivers side after a chunk of paint was taken off it by an idiot driving in the middle of the road. Anyway about half a mile from me is the place that does the vinyl wrapping for all the gumball cars, he works on lambos, ferraris etc. Just before gumball its a car heaven there. They have just got in a carbon fibre effect wrapping so i was thinking of getting my mirrors wrapped in this? What do u think, would it be chavvy? They are very very good at what they do and are not cow boys in anyway. What do u think? Would it look weird with just the mirrors done?

How long does that stuff last ?

Is it done nowadays for adverts and such or to help protect paint from stone chips and such ?

Don't do it. It won't look right on standard mirrors. Possibly on Cup mirrors...

      Cheers,

      Steve.

They have a few years guarantee now I believe, you can have your whole car "wrapped" a different colour for a few years and then take it off again when you get bored!

It seems to be a new craze. I believe it last a long time. I got the idea as i was detailing a nissan 350z yesterday for a mag shoot and he was getting his bonnet and wirrors done. Just not sure if it would look stupis with just the mirrors done? Depends if it is a really dark shade of carbon fibre, then i think it would look ok

Mirrors on their own might look a bit naff... How much to wrap the entire car - just for info / reference ?

Think it could look ok on your car Steve as its a really dark colour anyway - depends on the quality of the wrap really, nothing worse than cheap fake carbon, but some of rthe replica stuff looks pretty realistic, IIRC Jas11n had some good stuff for something on Sooty

Years ago, I v nearly had my mirrors on the red coupe wrapped silver when it was popular for other S cars to have the silver/Alu covers. Mate ran a sprayshop and had all sorts of trip colours if need be.

Never went with it in the end, there were to many mirror finished E46 bimmers doing it and it looked chav on the mirrors with the 2 stalks.

Ive seen a few posts from Polished Bliss on DW about the stuff they've done. Looks cool!

They were saying the carbon wrap they use isnt fake carbon, its real carbon fibre albeit not in the weave that we all traditionally know it as.

That could be interesting. Ill take a look down there as im sure it is probably the saem stuff. As i say they are very very good at what they do. They work on some of the best cars around and do most of the gumball graphics

                            This is the company http://www.raccoon.co.uk/gallery.php
They also do a chrome wrap which could be apossibility. The carbon fibre wrap is really dark and looks very realistic. I might give it a try depending on price

Be interesting to see how you get on with this. Ive got a few bits id like to get wrapped on the cab. Couple of friends have had theirs wrapped, (a TT and a mk5 Golf) and the finish was very good
