We have made an enhancement so that old threads should now link from search results to the correct thread. This is not yet in place for single post links
Hi, the opening mechanism on my avant seems to have given up the ghost - not a biggy as I have a replacement - but I cannot open my tailgate and it is innaccessible due to the interior boot trim - does anyone have any ideas how to get into it - and get it open so that I can carry out repairs?.

if you climb into the boot you will see a carpet like covering on the boot trim,at each end there are 'flaps' that open.You should be able to access the various rods attached to the locking mech from there
i just had the exact same thing but on my 100 avant - same mech tho. i had to go to a breakers and its quite a fiddly job to replace - just make sure you take some photos first!!
