    Going lock-less

Finally got my handles from the bodyshop today. They even delivered them home for me. It's great having contacts all over the trade.

As you can see from the appalling picture below I've had the lock barrel holes blanked so I can delete the locks from my front doors. I don't have all the fancy gubbins like heated locks etc to worry about and the existing barrels are both the wrong key number and knackered.

I should get round to fitting them before the weekend, only problem is they're nice and shiny and the rest of the car is still in dire need of a good polishing. So unless I find a few hours in the rest of this over busy week I'll have lovely shiny door handles and back bumper and matt finish everywhere else.

I'll post some more pics when I've fitted them, hopefully with the girlfriends digital camera not the 'pinhole' type historic artifact I've got.

You put a LOT of trust into your remote central locking old boy !!!!!

Do you have a failsafe (other than a brick) for the day that your electrics pack up ?

Good point Paul. Little bro has had the boot lock and release mech. removed from the tailgate of his clio. It uses the rear wash circuit to actuate a solenoid. This backed up at the weekend. What a nightmare it was to get in the boot due to a stupid sized ICE install. Guess who had to help out.

      This was only the boot.

Hope your battery doesn't fail when you go shopping etc.

I will be relying on the boot lock mechanism to actuate the central locking in the case of remote failure. If the main battery fails then it will have to be some clambering over the rear seats.

Don't coupes open the doors from the tailgate lock?

          NO! Well, mine doesn't!

Must admit, my ignition and door keys are different. I only have the ign. key and the clifford remote on my keyring! So if i break the remote or the battery goes flat then its time to break the window.

My we bro has removed his handles and locks - has buttons under his wing mirrors that activate one solenoid to unlock and another to push the door open - I can't be arsed with it though.
