    Heating locks?

How can I find out if my '92 S2 (with headlightwashers) has heated locks? I rather don't get of my doorpanel to see. Maybe someones knows?

Check your VIN sticker ( I have one in my service book, and one in the boot) for option codes 9X1(lhd), 9X2(rhd) or 9X3(both).

was going to ask about this myself. had the passenger side door card out to lubricate the runners at the weekend and found a wire from door lock that wasnt connected, looked liek the heated lock.

Anyway when i connected it if i locked door on that side i heard a little beep like an alarm arming. any ideas if this is good or bad?

What do you have to do to activate the heated locks?

steve as you look into the boot it should be stuck to the bodywork in the opening in the r/h corner.

that sounds like the factory alarm has been disconnected greg, have you an aftermarket alarm fitted? i have an aftermarket one with the factory one still connected.
so can use either with no problems.
factory one arms by locking door with key (should hear a beep from the boot)

Yes - secret VIN sticker is underneath the 'ice bucket' cubby hole that sits behind and below the right rear lights.

And the factory alarm is more of a 'gentle honk' than a 'little beep' !!!!!!!

I didnt even know it had an alarm fitted. It did get that little honk when it was locked.

Wondered what it was so left it disconnected, only thing its got fitted is a Cat II immobiliser.

How is alarm activated de activated etc?

unless the car was fitted with the optional remote locking (rare in the uk to my knowledge) then the OE alarm arms/disarms simply by using the key as per normal in the drivers side lock.

ah, will have the door cards out again soon and give it a try,

what i did try while it was connected was leaving the window open and opening with the door locked but it didnt set anything off, might be the reason it has been disconnected...

Strange, mine has the Cat 1 alarm/immob and the standard alarm fitted then, cos it still 'bleats' when I stick the key in and turn. or it did when I last did it a year or so ago.

I don't use it that often, but the horn really is pathetic. Is there anything noisier that will bolt straight on?

I've got a CAT 1 alarm on mine and the horn in the boot sounds whenever you arm it. It does sound rather pathetic, much like the horn on my old polo.
