Just in case anyone's wondering how the hi-specs are going I can confirm that they are better than the brakes on a Jaguar S-Type driven by a woman.....

oh total bummer mate...but this may be the light at the end of your tunnel:
I can't see any paint damage to your bumper...a body shop should be able to push that out from the inside by slightly warming the surface of the bumper with a heat gun (aka hair drier). as for the latch...you wouldn't need to repaint the whole thing after getting it straightened.

plus, it's not your fault! if you plowed the person in front of you, then you'd be fooked.

    good luck with everything!

total nightmare Jim.....bet you were a bit p**sed with her and rightly so.

Hope its mainly superficial damage and that she'll be back to her normal good looks soon.

          Best of luck,

Thats is slightly worse than what happened to mine. I had to have a new bumper and a new section that runs under the number plate area.

Thankfully it's all superficial. Sadly the apron section under the plate will beed doing.

AFAICT it only lightly scraped the exhaust pipe.

Only me in the car and I was amazingly calm about the whole thing. Even asked if the woman was ok whilst she was bleeting on about 'why did i brake'/ I even let that go without a sarcastic comment! must be getting old.

Glad to hear you're Ok Jim. A panel, bumper and a dash of Kingfisher blue will sort her out.

At least you're OK and the damage is superficial - could have been much worse! Glad to hear you kept your calm too... I doubt if I could

That's rotten luck Jim. You're probably aware that the apron section isn't a separate panel AFAIK its part of the rear wings. Which would means it'll need straightening rather than replacing

I'd be interested to learn how the bodyshop tackle this job as I don't think it's an easy one. Can you let us know please?

Stupid cow why was she driving so close , "Only a fool breaks the 2 second rule" Also when it goes in for repair claim the exhaust has taken a shunt and claim a free pair of cats to fit at a later date should yours ever go south :mischeif: as they arnt cheap. You can also specify where it gets fixed to her insurance as they will send it to some Vauxhall dealership where some spotty 17 year old apprentice will do all of the stripping (and snapping of clips) and cleaning (with the coarsest wire brush available to take the galvo off, then the professional will straighten it, and the apprentice puts it all back together with all the care and grace of a Gorrilla in a bad mood. BTDT-never again. Specify a place you trust to do the work, as insurance companies will always find the cheapest ways out.

                          Sorry to see this Jim.

When I was with Paul N last week we were talking about how many S2s must still be on the road due to accidents and write offs etc. We were joking about all the back end shunts that would start to happen as people upgraded their brakes.

Sorry didn't mean to jinx you

Hope you get it sorted. As it's her insurnace that will be paying make sure you get the BEST possible job done.

****** that. New bumper please! She hit you - claim off her insurance - fix it all for free please. Make sure you get a courtesy car out of them as well!

I hope you manage to get it fixed quicker than my accident. A woman side swiped me on June 4th. The car goes into the body shop on August the 9th! But I get to run about for a week in a 1.2 Corsa! Can't wait
