  • bodykit trouble

    Hello all,

I've started trying to get the remaining bit of minging old body kit off my s2 today. total PITA I'm having shave off these bits of trim from where the lower door trims would normally be, aswell as these curved pieces that go up from the old skirts to the wheel arch.

the way i've done this so far is by getting one of those cheap flexible snap off blade stanley's and slicing it off kebab style after i manage to get a screwdriver in underneath the fibreglass. the adhesive is bloody strong stuff and it's nigh on imposssible to get all this stuff off without taking paint with it.

obviously it's going to need a trip to the sprayers after i get it all off,

but does anyone know how to turn this crap job into a easier one?

either option scares the hell out of me, i suppose whatever i do, it'll still need the same amount of paint after.

horrible job - what were they thinking

A knotted wire brush on a grinder will make short work of that
as you say it'll need painting anyway unfortunately

You can get from ebay drill attachments with a rubber wheel on it, could try one of them and "rub" it off, soak some white spirit into some of the easier bits and it should work and not damage the paint.

1300kg's not too bad a target, I assume that's with the driver. So we're talking a circa 100kg weight loss...

Front seats are a good starting point to lose weight. Then look at unsprung weight, it'll improve handling too.

Sorry folk, I've no idea why this reply's popped up on this thread (quoting Acidburn), I was replying to the S2 weight thread.... If the Mods could pop it over, that'd be great, because I can't appear to delete it either...
