If you have a C4 UrS, you want to read this and make sure that your cowl drain is clear. Otherwise you could end up with a flood and dead ECU.
Importance of the C4 Cowl Water Drain Valve

Now I find out that the B6's had the problem (in the US) and the official recall solution was to remove the water drain valve. (Might explain why my 98 C4 A6 avant's water drain valve was not in place - I've only had it 4 years).RS2'd 93 UrS4 5 spd sedan

At least they instigate recalls over there, VW (in the UK & Ireland anyway) just stuck their head in the sand on the issue on the RHD B5 passats. The 1st tell was problems with windows and central locking caused by water making it's way into the passenger footwell and subsequently into the electronics under the pasenger seat.
If my c4 isn't already bungless it will be tomorrow

Hoffer had the UrS4 that was the inspiration for me buying mine. He sold his and EXACTLY that thing happened - detected water under the carpet and then the electrics played up - we found the battery area almost full of water - you could have swum in it! I always check mine now as it can be catastrophic!Comment

I know this is a massive thread resurrection, but is there any chance that UrS4boy could repost the original link/article please.
I have a swimming pool without planning permission in both front footwells of the A6C4 & finding related info on the net is proving tricky.
Car has (non working) climate.

Sorry about that. I can't recall why I nuked the link. In any event, I have put it back (above) and here:I know this is a massive thread resurrection, but is there any chance that UrS4boy could repost the original link/article please. Your issue might be the sunroof drains. There are four of them. They need to be clear. People have successfully used weed-wacker string trimmer plastic "string" (with the end melted with a match/lighter to take away the sharp end)

There seems to be malware running on the site where that image is hosted (12v.org), so i wouldn't recommend going there.
You can clearly see the javascript injected into the web pages in the source, which in turn loads a script from another URL and then attempts to execute the malware on to your computer.
Anybody viewing this page or that website on Google Chrome will get warned of malware.S2Forum.com AdministratorComment

Interesting read there. Thanks for the repost.
I've had a quick look in the twilight & rain - it's Ireland....!
The main drain plug is completely clear & dry.
Three is however water in the 'water box' on both passenger & driver sides. RHD car.
I have the A pillar trim at low level internally & see weeps of water coming in through the white foam grommets. [The rain was useful for something]. I'm not sure if there's water ingress any higher up & running down into them though - just to fool me.
The sunroof drains are clear. When you pour water in the tray, they drain at the points next to the door hinges to the front.
I suspect the windscreen seal. At least it's on my list of suspects, so I'll have to remove some of the fixed scuttle to investigate further.
Just to make it more fun, I also have water ingress at the rear hatch! And that doesn't appear to be light gaskets... May be something to do with the tow bar, so it's a bumper off job to look at that.sigpic
