POR15 Order - Missed anything?

Just about to put my order in for POR15 stuff.

Im getting everything sandblasted so wont need the degreaser so in my order i have

1 - POR15 Prep and Ready US Quart
2 - POR15 Rust Preventative Paint US Quart
3 - POR15 Chassis Top Coat US Quart

anything else to get? need any solvents to mix in?

Weird, used to be called Metal Ready, they have renamed it

I'd add some Marine Clean to the list too for degreasing and general cleaning purposes

Would you mind telling me in what order you apply all those paints? Only asking as i will be stripping down my shell this summer and would like the peace of mind of knowing that i done it correctly.

This is my plan of action

1 - Sandblast all the components to remove all rust and paint
2 - Use prep and ready which etches the metal surface and increases the strength of the bond between paint and metal
3 - Paint 1 coat of Rust Preventative paint (possibly 2 depending on coverage)
4 - Paint 1 coat of Chassis Top Coat. This layer adds extra protection and isn't UV sensitive like the rust preventative coat is.

i love the warnings on these paints...if it comes in contact with your skin and you dont remove it straight away with solvents, it will NOT come off until your skin naturally flakes off!! could give myself a tattoo!

Seriously - it is damn hard to get POR15 off your skin - the only that shifts it is POR thinners, but after its hard you are looking for friction to get it off.

Never heard of 'prep and ready' - it was called 'Metal Ready' when I last bought it.

You'll be wanting two coats of topcoat.

My only other tip is to use grey POR15 and then black topcoat - that way you can easily see if you are unlucky enough to get a big enough stone chip that damages the top coat.

The grey undercoat sounds a very good idea. Might call up to see if i can change my order...

I much prefer the black POR15 to the grey, seems to go on nicer for some reason. You want TWO coats of POR15 Will, then topcoat.

got to say holden are top with service! order processed monday, received wednesday. Very happy! doesnt look like much paint...think ill be doing round 2!

add lots of wd40 too....you'll need it to get the bolts un-done!!

i still havent removed the subframe bolt thats head sheared off....

PlusGAS & GT85 are the way.. plus GT85 is a like a room odouriser, my garage smells sweet
