Not anymore, you can buy ones that fit on the original wiper arms now. they do not look as good though, the vag parts kit sat a bit lower, kinda hidden behind the bonnet. The retro fit ones sit the same as normal wiper blades.

I'm after a set of new wiper blades for the coupe. Have seen several of these flat ones on ebay at decent prices for Audi Coupes etc but there is a variety of sizes offered - some say 20" for both sides, some 21" or even 22" and others say they are different sizes for driver and passenger sides!
I have measured the ones on the car and they are both the same at roughly 21". There's a gap of no more than an inch between them when they are parked but there's plenty of room for a longer blade when they are in use. I guess you could have a 22" on the drivers side to clear more of the screen and if you then had a 21" on the passenger side there should still be a big enough gap between them so that they could park without touching. I reckon that 22" on both sides would be very close together when parked.
What sizes have you guys gone for and anyone able to recommend any particular supplier on ebay.

Got a cheep pair to try from Tesco £6 each.

Came with the bracket the wrong way wround (i.e. LHD) but a quite
simple to swap it 180deg. Fitted original arms and seem ok.

They only had 22" available so there pretty close when "parked" - seem to get away
with it though - Only problem I can see is it does not wipe for a couple of inches
above the tax disc - otherwise fine, nice and quiet.

Lets see how long they last.
