  • Sun Roof tinkering

Has anyone taken out the sun roof panel (metal not glass) - without taking the whole assembly out (which I think usually means dropping the roof lining)?

Main problem as I see it is the headliner panel, which is attached to the underside of roof panel, prevents access to the securing bolts.

Been looking at the excellent guide by Oily and it looks possible to release the headliner from the underside of the sun roof panel (couple of studs at the front) so that it can be pushed back out of the way (as if the sun roof was opening I think). This should allow me to get at the bolts that secure the roof/lid to the sliders and it will (hopefully!) lift out from there!

Sounds a plan so far – but anyone tried this?!

    cheers

Your right, the trim panel will unclip when moved towards the back of the car so you can access the bolts holding it on.
