  • Can you just swap window motors?

    Hey

Finally, like many others,my electric window motor has packed up.I know its definately the motor by testing with the meter.

Pete Acidtab has sent me a replacement motor. The package which arrived was the size of a door though!

So,can I just swap the motor.I dont think so,but why does Audi list it as a seperate part?

    Cheers

    Steve

You can either swap it as a whole cartridge remembering the spacers that are around the cartridge or if your bored swap the motor over into your cartridge. Not too bad a job, 6x13's that hold the cartridge in, a couple of cable ties and the door card so not the worst job. Just check the spacing and how it closes with the door.

its not too bad to do, just make sure you have:

          screw drivers
13mm spanner (for the 6x bolts)
10mm socket (for the motor bolts)
torx screw driver (for the 2x bolts that hold the glass on)
cable ties for the wiring (you have to cut this)
allen keys (to remove grab handle)

          think thats about it.

Easiest way is take the cover off the motor, then you can carefully take the cable spool out and fit it into a replacement motor - IIRC from last time I had mine apart you should only need ot take the door card off and unbolt the motor to do this so saves the PITA of realigning the window cartridge
