Right rear door will not open FIXED

The right hand side rear door stopped working suddently and will not open eather way. The outside handle is rock solid and the inner handle feels normal except it does not open. The locking mechanism feels normal but when the inside handle is applied the knob will drop a little.

Good advice needed, because I have both the surrounding doorcard screws in place and will not get the door card off without damage

I know the feeling. has happened to me twice now on the same door. New lock required.

However, that is of no help. First time I took the car to a lock smith and after 2 hours they managed to get it open. Then removed the door card and after a while it happened again. Now at least I would try and get it undone. It would appear that the lock is worn and gets stuck is a half locked position.

By examining a spare lock and simulating the problem I managed to get it open. But Its an absolute battle.

All I can say is a hope you find a good lock smith, first time round. Local agents referred me, so try that. Best of luck.

I finally got the door open by pressing the lever mechanism with force throw the window seal with a metal bar. After that I took of the doorcard and the window mechanism to see clearly to the lock mechanism.

The outside handle pushes the lock by a bar which lenght is adjustable. The problem was the adjuster "nut" went loose and screwed itself down, so it then blocked the doorhandle pivoting. The same thing was also blocking the inner handle from working. I adjusted the "nut" upwards until the handle was working correctly and applied a drop of "thread lock" to prevent it turning down again.

When ever you have to take off the doorcard You might want to check that the gap between the "nut" is as in the picture
