As I'm now keeping the S6 as a daily driver. I really need to upgrade the headlights. I had a quick look last night and the actual reflecters are damaged, someone must of had big bulbs in them at somepoint and they have burnt them a bit. What are my options, I don't mind buying new lights, but not wanting to spend loads or if anyone had a decent second hand set.
I would suggest you have the inside of the headlight repainted or wrapped in a high temperature reflective metallic vinyl. also getting the exterior glass lens polished wouldn't be a bad idea.
I recently got my fog lights restored, New high temperature vinyl interior lining and had the exterior glass polished to remove scratches and rock chips.
I am very satisfied this the out come. looks new!!
The headlight glass looks in great condition,it's only the low beam I need fixed, but unfortunatley the reflector is badly burnt and would need replaced, i'm not sure if the low beam one could be replaced by itself?
Repaint the hole reflector... i'm pretty sure it dose not need to be replaced unless it is fractured...
Take it to a headlight repair/Restoration expert. what he would do is sand the reflector until it is smooth and repaint it. there is no need to buy a new reflector.
It shouldn't cost more than 25 dollars per headlight....
Forget the suggestions of painting the reflector. There isn't a paint that is shiny enough to reproduce the reflective qualities of the original "chrome". Some places will rechrome plastic bits, at least on this side of the pond (catering to muscle car restoration). I don't know anything about the high temp vinyl that was mentioned but it might be worth a shot.
For bulbs, lots of UrS folks over here are using the VVME HID kits (not expensive).
Here are two write-ups about cleaning headlights (and replacing the glass, as needed).
The first one is the very first UrS write-up I ever did (1999):
The Audi Enthusiast website. Forums for all Audis including A4, S4, A5, S5, A6, S6, allroad, A8, S8, TT, R8, Q5, Q7, 4000, 100, 200, v6, v8, vintage, local forums
This one is probably better because it has photos:
UrS4boy : Cheers for that, looking closer at mine there is a hole burnt into the reflector, the lense is bit milky but not too bad, might be able to get a decent reflector from a damaged unit.
There's a brand new pair of headlights on ebay for £170, fit 55w 4300K HIDs in the low beam and Osram Nightbreakers in the high beam. This is what I've got in mine and it's like daylight

Loads of sets on ebay.de Can these been changed from LHS to RHS is there a lever inside or am I making this up? Ivan
There is a lever in the "Euro" headlights I have. But that doesn't solve the lenses issue. AFAIK, RHD lenses are different than LHD lenses. RHD (left hand traffic) lenses = 4A0941115K and 116K.

Are they different from a6 headlights? If not there should be a fair few on ebay uk?
Late run C4 A6s, e.g. my 98 C4 A6q avant, over here have UrS6 headlights so you might get lucky. The key would be if they A6 has the projector low beam and integrated fog light, not just a single two filament 9004 bulb and separate fog light.

I have seen quite a few a6s with the projector low/fog, just didnt know if they were a slightly different shape to the s6. There is a brand new one for £44.99, no idea on quality though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-BR...item337cdbb796
And used ones listed at £30.
The photo in the eBay advert looks right but the PN quoted, 4A0941030M, is actually the PN for a "twin" halogen, left hand traffic, right side of vehicle, headlight. A proper UrS6 halogen triple headlight unit for the UK would be 4A0941030P for the right side of the vehicle and 029P for the left side. At least this what my friend Kate was able to tell me.

Do you have any advice regarding the reflectors? My RHD S6 reflectors are quite opaque. Do I need to buy new reflectors? Can I buy new reflectors? My lenses are quite clear. The shop said I could get HIDs, but it was pointless unless I got new reflectors.
