    Frozen coupe door

I know this has been discussed many times before and it's a well know problem, however after years of giving the lock barrel the kiss of life to defrost the lock followed by vein attempts at then trying to get the door to open as its frozen shut, then followed by the embarrassing entry to the boot and the expedition climb through to the front.

A cure at last fingers crossed

I tried it last night on 2 coupes and this morning after -8 to -10 and freezing fog it was easy entry

All I did was put some antifreeze on a cloth and clean all my door seals, rubbers and along the bottom of my door card.

Lets see how long it lasts......

haha, I literally just sat down having had to break a seal of ice opening my coupe door! Was thinking of running her for a while just to defrost! There are icicles coming off the tyres!

The antifreeze sounds like a good shout.

      It's grim up 'north'

Not sure on what the anti-freeze would do to the seals

Another reason why pillarless doors are so cool...

That's why I'm using silicone spray on door seals. They never got frozen after spraying seals with silicone.

Heated door locks would stop this problem.. Have a complete set for sale.

Remote central locking fixes the door locks problem too!

Silicon spray like MDZ said helps keep the rubber in better condition and stops it sticking to the door.

only issue I had was freezing of window to seal at top. never other issues.

think it was glycerine I used. its what we use when fishing in winter to stop rods freezing up. smeared on top of window edge.

Had this issue today. Ended up pouring luke warm water into the door jam to get the door open. This worked really well, except the water has now formed an ice rink on the driveway.

Its not just pillarless doors. My little daily ZX Diesel can cope with the weather in every way apart from gaining access to the damned thing each morning. This mornings problem wasn't the door opening but the actual lock mechanism sticking open. This means the door wont close. You slam it and it just bounces open again. Interesting dash inside to boil the kettle with my door hanging open onto the pavement. A quick dousing in warm water did the trick and amazingly it did not re-freeze when I came back to it later. Ovvo wouldn't advise doing this with a decent car. No doubt the next problem will be rust on the locks. Note to self - spray some WD40 on later.
