    RS2 Foglight Air Vents

    Hi All,

I noticed on a few photos that some people have fitted the air vents from a 993 GT2 into the RS2 front bumper instead of the fog lights. I wondered if this was just a styling thing, or is there a route for the air to go somewhere, brakes maybe? I'm more of a fan of form follows function so it'd be nice to know if they do actually do something?

    Cheers
    David

So the people who've fitted these have never had a look to see where the air is going?

Air is supposedly routed to the brakes, or at least that is what happens to porsche cars.
However with flexible tubes you can route it anywhere you want. I would on the right side to the air filter and left side on the radiator. Not that it would make a huge difference but hey!

Mostly its just styling. Might help intercooler, might help brakes.

If form follows function, what do people carry in the back of RS2s

I did mine to the airtake. Pipes never had much room though to be effective unless you cut up bits n bobs... But I did it as I couldn't find foglights.. They look cool though.

I guess the funny answer is a much better rear suspension setup. But in honesty it's very practical being an estate and is one of the reasons I bought it. It's as close as I can get to a 911 Turbo without upsetting my customers and means I can still shift work around in it if I have to.

On a 993 there's a clear route through the bumper to the wheel arches which makes it easy. I've poked my nose behind the fog light and couldn't see much of a clear route to anywhere. You're right though, they do look cool but that's not reason enough for me to fit them. I hardly ever use the fog lights either though to be honest, but then it's an easy excuse as I didn't decide to fit those.

So I guess the question is can you get a worthwhile pipe from the back of the vent to the brakes?
